Makan @ Porn's

Porn's is located along Liang Seh Street and it's opened by the popular local Channel 8 host, Pornsak. It serves mainly thai food.
The meaning of 'porn' in thai.
Porn's limited menu
The SETTers were not too impressed with the menu as there were limited options and the chef-recommendations seemed quite common. However, one SETTer suggested to try this drink known as Rosella & Lime as what was recommended by other online sites. Tasted a little like ribena with lime but overall, it was quite a nice drink.

Rosella & Lime
The SETTers ordered the following:

Tom Yum Goong
Pineapple Fried Rice
Deep Fried Toufu
Thai Green Curry

Out of the 4, SETTers vote for the Tom Yum Goong as worth trying! The Thai Green Curry is next in line though a little too saltish. The spicy-ness is the most shiok part. What SETTers did not like was the portion. The portion was more like for 2 pax or maybe 1 big-appetite-eater and it was not according to the no. of pax present!

We gave Porn's another chance by ordering the dessert - Sticky Rice with Durian.

The sticky rice is really yummy and the SETTers really love the fact that they served it warm. On the other hand, the durian tasted alittle bland.

All in all, it's worth a try @ Porn's though the SETTers believe that it has quite a long way to match the standard of Thai Express or Lerk Thai. 2.5 out of 5 stars!

Makan @ JB

Been travelling quite a bit to JB recently. With the new Malaysian Immigration Checkpoint, it's quite easy to walk to City Square without getting any exposing yourself to the heat of the sun. Only thing i didn't really like about the new checkpoint is where you're going back to S'pore, the walk is SUPER LONG!

That aside, I still like JB much in terms of shopping, food and pampering ourselves. Look out for SETTers' update on different shopping/food/pampering spots in JB!

Fellow SETTer brought me to this restaurant - 鸭王(ya wang). It's about 10 mins walk from City Square. Not exactly a restaurant restaurant, but more like a air-conditoned coffee-shop. It's famous for it's duck meat cooked in different style and different chinese herbs. Oh, did i mention that this is advisor to the famous 店小二 (dian xiao er)? So you can roughly imagine how the food taste there.

We paid about RM32 each for the above dishes - beancurd, duck meat (can't remember which style we chose), beansprout and a sweet and sour fish. Personally, every dish was good except the fish, not very fresh i guessed. But all in all, it was worth the try and it's not too pricey.

The other all-time favourite of the SETTers is Nando's chicken at City Square. We paid about RM23 for a yummy quarter chicken with 2 side dishes. For those who haven't tried Nando's, you can choose the 'flavor' of you chicken - lemon & herb or 3 different level of spicyness.

More makan places to intro soon!

Best Buy World!!!

woohoo my dear readers out there! Check this out!

http://sg.bestbuy-world.com/

Hard to describe what this is, but check out this site for yourself! All the bargains there are for all sorts of stuff! Based in Singapore, so just need to accumulate at least $50 for free delivery!

Most of the skin care products are worth getting if the brand that you want is in because u can save a lot!
Or if you would like to try a product from a certain brand, just purchase the sample size first so that you can see if you like it after that and buy the full-size! My sister recommended this site to me and she did order some sample size stuff to try before purchasing the full-size product (so you don't end up wasting your money on the full-size product that you may not want to continue using).

They also have many other stuff so I'm sure you can accumulate $50 easily and get free delivery! If you really can't, then just find a few other friends to combine the amount together!

MOREOVER, each time you purchase the product and if you write some product review within 3 months of the purchase of the product, you can gain points and use the points to offset your next purchase! You also earn points when you purchase things on the site too. (e.g. $100 = 100 points). All these points can be used as cash rebates in your next purchase=)

My Shoes Bite No More

Want to get that pair of dashing killer heels but worried that it'll cause blisters and have to stick lotsa plasters on your feet? Not the 爱美不要命 (beauty over life) type? The solution is here!

Let me present to you, the 1 foot-related thingy that all girls/ladies/women should have or must have - Foot Glide.

Do not under-estimate the 'power' of this little stick of wax. This is a skin protectant skin to be applied to your feet or your pretty biting shoes even. No smell, not oily and no colour. The size is just right to fit into your small hangbags or even clutch so you can carry it everywhere you go, and re-apply as many times as you want. Actually, don't have to apply so many times. Usually i only apply once for shoes that are 'moderately harmful' and 2-3 times for those 'killer shoes'. With this, I never fear of any shoes 'biting' my skin and can go 'plaster-free'. Oh did I mention that this one stick can last super long? Unless all your shoes are 'extremely harmful' type! If after applying Foot Glide and your feet still hurt badly after many tries with the shoes, i've got 1 suggestion - consider throwing it away 'cos it's not meant for human-use. Hehe.

Card it!

Hellooo folks

Today is card day. Yes I am going to 'talk' about credit cards that I posess.

Beginning with credit cards:

These were the cards that I applied for back when my income level qualified when I was working full-time =d

Notice the cards are strategically placed so that my credit card numbers won't be revealed =)

Citi Clear Card for students

This was the very first card I applied for back then when I was a lowly-paid diploma grad.. good card to have if you are a student or working adult whose annual income is below SGD$30,000. You get to enjoy most Citibank benefits (shopping & food etc)
Card limit is only $500
HSBC Gold Visa Credit Card

Second card which I applied. There was a promotion and they don't seem to be very strict about the income requirement.
Submitted my application after I got my bonus.
Three years waiver of membership fee -  why not?
Upcoming card hence starting to offer better promotions and privilege

The Choice Card

This comes complimentary with every HSBC card applied for.
Good for having more points when shopping @ Cold Storage, Guardian, Jason's Marketplace etc.

I looooove shopping at Cold Storage. Somehow find the fruits and vegetables there fresher..Great for salads and western food recipes :)
Can also find more varieties and brands of products. Slightly pricier though.

Fairprice Plus Credit Card
Applied for this next after I got my promotion at my previous job, hence meeting the income requirements - YEAH!
This is good for getting more points when shopping at NTUC Fairprice..

I shop there quite often too.. for groceries to whip up delicous recipes sourced from everywhere =p

OCBC Titanium Mastercard

Applied for this card just before I left my full time job.. intially applied for the free pair of GV movie tickets hehe..but OCBC seems to be fighting for a share of the credit card market, so may offer more privileges.

They also give you a free mobile phone (basic features) if you spend $500 in the first month - got it by using this card to pay for my parents' purchases =p

OCBC Robinsons Credit Card

It came complimentary after I had applied for the OCBC Titanium Credit Card. I have yet to use it.
Good to have if you shop at Robinsons often.

Next up membership cards which I possess.. Livin' up the life and Lovin' it! =)
